14th Century costume - Learn the components of a 14th century lady or gentleman's wardrobe, from the skin out. Discussion! Pictures! Hints for easy ways to make The Look! More Pictures! Silly hat tricks! No sewing--that's Lady Brygyt's class.  (Honorable Lord Eoin an Eich Ghil mac Cionaodha, 3:00pm, Class: 2F)

14th Century Sewing Techniques - A basic overview of the stitches and joining techniques used in 14th century Europe. Documentation gathered from the London Museum books. Short hands on and handout will be provided for a $1 fee.  (Lady Brygyt D'Arcy, 4:00pm, Class: 2E)

Basic Banner Making - Construction, Materials and Do's and Don't's of Banner making.   (Master Sebastian Halyburton, 2:00pm, Class: 2F)

Basic Calligraphy - Come learn to write like an educated member of the nobility. Will cover: how to hold the pen, sign your name and some useful phrases such as 'send more beer'.  (Honorable Lord Eoin an Eich Ghil mac Cionaodha, 1:00pm, Class: 1C)

Basic Glass Etching: each student will be shown the basics of cream acid etching, and will etch a design on glassware. Materials will be provided along with reference material. Class time 1 hour, limit of 10 students.  (Honorable Lord Parlan MacRonan, 4:00pm, Class: 1C)

Basic Heraldry - Basic Order of blazoning, Tinctures, Parted fields, Lines of partition, Ordinaries, Sub-ordinaries, Varied fields and Misc.  (Master Sebastian Halyburton, 4:00pm, Class: Sanctuary)

Basic Loop-in-loop Jewelry: Make a pair of earrings or bracelet using the loop-in-loop method; also try your hand at using a "jig" to make wrapped wire jewelry. All materials  provided with a handout for reference. One hour, limit of 10 students.  (Lady Seannach MacLochlainn, 3:00pm, Class: 1B)

Basic Mead Making - The 12 Step Method to Making Mans Oldest Fermented Drink - Class will learn through seeing the process done and through a step by step handout  (Baron Rurik Petrovitch Stoianov, 10:00am, Class: Courtyard 2)

Basic Middle Eastern Dance - Learn proper stance and control of body for doing hip slides, circles and figure 8s. We will attempt to learn slides, circles and a variety of figure 8s. Please bring a hip scarf if possible. (limit of 10 people)  (Baroness Barb-Hah-Rah, 3:00pm, Class: 1A)

Basic Perfume & Cologne Making - Will cover the history of perfume, and different techniques of obtaining scent from natural sources. Will have the chance to mix 1 or 2 perfumes or colognes (student's choice) using a selection of about 30 essential oils I've collected. Listening is free; donation of $1.00 is requested per vial of scent made.  A limited supply of 1/2 oz. glass vials will be available, but bring any very small clean glass containers if you can.  (Lady Victoria of Vig (called Boudicca), 3:00pm, Class: Bridal Room)

Basic Sausage Roll Hats: (hands-on) Learn the skills to make a basic "sausage roll" hat, which is used as the base for several men's & women's hat variations.  Participants will actually make a wearable sausage roll hat to take with them.  (Limit 10, $3.00 materials fee, all materials provided)  (Honorable Lady Cara Angiola de Boccaccio, 4:00pm, Class: 2B)

Basic Sewing Skills I – All the basics, from what pieces of equipment to have and how to use it, to how to sew a French seam or an invisible hem.  If you’ve never really sewed before, or if you’ve been trying to figure it out on your own, this is the class for you.  (Countesss Dulcia MacPherson, 10:00am, Class: 2F)

Basic Sewing Skills II – The next step in learning to sew garb for the SCA; learning how to work from measurements to create basic patterns, how to make different kinds of necklines accurately (the first time!), and tricks to make your sewing projects easier and your garb look great.  (Countesss Dulcia MacPherson, 11:00am, Class: 2F)

Basic Veils: (Hands-on) Learn the skills to make a basic oval veil, including cutting an even oval shape and basic hand hemming.  Participants will actually start making a wearable veil to take with them, although the handwork (hemming) will be completed on your own due to the time required.  (Limit 10, $2.00 materials fee, all materials provided)  (Honorable Lady Cara Angiola de Boccaccio, 1:00pm, Class: 2B)

Basics of Bodice-fitting:  Fashions calling for fitted bodices date from at least the 12th century.  We will cover both fitting in the side seam and fitting with four panels.  (Honorable Lady Arianne de Chateaumichel, 1:00pm, Class: Bridal Room)

Beginning Feast Stewarding - Pointers and tips for planning, executing and surviving a feast in the SCA.  (Mistress Mairi Ceilidh, 4:00pm, Class: 2A)

Beginning Footwork for Fighters -   The first part of the class will cover basic footwork for both heavy and light weapons fighters.  The second part will cover basic light wepons fighting including safety requirements and basic equipment.  (Don Iain of Rannoch & Don Mikael du Mouchel, 11:00am, Class: 1A)

Beginning Kumohimo Braiding - Will learn how to make a spiral braid using a cardboard circle and embroidery floss; a handout will be available with history and instructions.  (Lady Victoria of Vig (called Boudicca), 1:00pm, Class: 1B)

Beginning Renaissance Dancing - Make friends and influence people! Impress your companions and show up your rivals like a true medieval lady or gentleman--on the dancefloor. Some of the most popular dances in Trimaris will be taught, plus basic style and courtesies which separate dance from other contact sports.  (Honorable Lord Eoin an Eich Ghil mac Cionaodha, 2:00pm, Class: 1A)

Beginning Spinning - Will cover the types of wheels, drop spindles, types of fiber, other necessary and recommended equipment, and a demonstration of spinning techniques  (Honorable Lady Thirza Leonovna Denisovskaya, 10:00am, Class: 1A)

Chainmaille: You've got maille!   - An introduction to the basics of the art of maille armor construction.  This will be a hands-on activity for five students. At the completion of the class, students will have a basic understanding of the materials and tools necessary to start one's own maille armor factory. Children's Garb: from infancy through elementary, some examples will be provided for the different ages.  (Honorable Lady Arianne de Chateaumichel, 11:00am, Class: 2B)

Cordage - Learn how to make cordage with string, using only your fingers. The method can be used for making a variety of sizes for use in clothing and armour, basketry and other odd usages. String supplied. (limit of 12 people)  (Baroness Barb-Hah-Rah, 2:00pm, Class: 1B)

Event Stewarding 101 - Want to run an event but you don't know where to start?  This class will concentrate on Stewarding local events.  Kingdom events will be addressed if there is time.   (Magistra Octavia Columella, 10:00am, Class: 2E)

Fabric Identification for SCA Costuming - Learning how to identify the material through feel and a burn test.  (Mistress Ceridwen o Cahercomman, 3:00pm, Class: 2B)

Fibula Making - Need a pin and want to make your own?  Learn the basics of Fibula making.  If you want to bring your own beads, pliers and wire cutters you can or I will supply them for you for a small fee. (Limited to 15 people, $2.00 fee for materials)  (Lady Grainne mhic Nieill, 10:00am, Class: 1C)

Food Handling Certification Class - Learn how to safely cook and serve your feast, and get certified by the State of Florida to do it!  Having someone on your feast staff with this certification can sometimes safe your event and your group money as well, based on various site requirements. (2 Hours - $10 fee for instruction, test, & certification)  (Mistress Mairi Ceilidh, 1:00pm, Class: 2A)

Gulf Wars Mega Cloak - This simple cloak pattern will allow a beginner or advanced sewer to create a full circle cloak using only 2 seams and 1 hem. It offers options for a hood, full lining and a rain coat. This will be a hands-on class where the student will 'create' a take home pattern. Various forms of the cloak will be available for review. Approx 1 Hr  (Honorable Lady Sireena de Artopeous , 4:00pm, Class: 2F)

Hand Stitching Techniques - From straight durable seams that last to fine finishing techniques, learn easy to use documented stitches used for creating historical hand sewn garments that are durable and last (no cost)  (Lady Signy Ottarsdottir, 2:00pm, Class: 2A)

Handsewing:  lots of different stitch types and uses  (Honorable Lady Arianne de Chateaumichel, 10:00am, Class: 2B)

How to use a Sewing Machine:  Learn the basic parts, how to thread and use a basic sewing machine.  (Mistress Gianetta, 1:00pm, Class: 1A)

History of Prayer Beads -   This course is brief history of the evolution and dispersion of prayer beads (from India outwards).  The main emphasis will be on the evolution of the Christian Rosary in Europe, but will touch on other culture's forms of prayer beads as well. (Honorable Lady Anne of Blackthorne, 10:00am, Class: Bridal Room)

How to Research Costuming – From an idea to a finished project (or Art/Sci entry!); how to go about the research process, how to find resources, and how to apply what you find to your project.  (Countesss Dulcia MacPherson, 1:00pm, Class: 2F)

Illumination 101:  which covers drawing of simple leaf and flower shapes, vinework, and touches on layout and shading.  (Mistress Melesse O'Meara, 2:00pm, Class: 1C)

Introduction to Cooking from Period Sources - Learning to identify good period source and recognizing bad translations. Learning to read from the early texts.  (Mistress Ceridwen o Cahercomman, 10:00am, Class: 2A)

Introduction to Leatherwork: An overview class to identify the materials and tools of leathercraft.  The class can be taught in an hour, but 90 minutes allows more Q & A time.  Max class size: 15.  There will be a requested donation of 50 cents to cover copy costs for the handouts, but it is optional.  (Baron Mu'allim al Thaalibi, 11:00am, Class: 1C)

Introduction to Medieval Symbolism--Intended as a basic introduction to symbolism used in medieval illuminations, paintings, and sculptures. This class may be of particular interest to those interested in scribal arts.  NOTE:  This class contains religious content.  If you are offended by this type of material, you may wish not to attend.  Running time:  1 hour.  (Baroness Ysabela Celestina Manrique de Palma y Majorca, 2:00pm, Class: Sanctuary)

Introduction to the Saints and Their Symbolism--This class is intended as basic overview of the Saints of the medieval Western Church and their associated attributes (trademarks) as seen in medieval illuminations, paintings, and sculptures. This class may be of particular interest to those interested in scribal arts.  NOTE:  This class contains strong religious content and often graphic representations of violence.  If you are offended by this type of material, you may wish not to attend. Lampwork Glass Beadmaking Demo - This will run throughout the day starting at around 10 am and going into the afternoon; please stop by and observe, or even try your hand at making your own glass bead!  (Baroness Melisande Aubrey D'Anjou (called Gryfyn) and

Lost Wax Casting - Fine jewelry made by lost wax casting begins with a model carved in hard wax. This class demonstrates that a precise and skilled art explained as a step-by-step process.  A fully desciptive handout accompanies this hands-on demonstration. Make Your Own Prayer Beads - A make-your-own set of prayer beads session, meant as a follow-up to “History of Prayer Beads”, but attendees can take either or both sessions as they wish.  A variety examples based on period pieces will be available to copy. Class size limit is 20 people, and there will be a small fee for materials (to be determined by your choice of beads).  (Honorable Lady Anne of Blackthorne, 11:00am, Class: Bridal Room)

Nalbinding - An introduction to the history, the basic tools and the technique of Scandinavian single needle knitting.  (must limit to 8 participants. It needs hands on supervision no cost)  (Lady Signy Ottarsdottir, 4:00pm, Class: Bridal Room)

Period Games - A short history of a few simple to learn games, followed by time to play. Copies of the game boards (and a set of playing pieces) will be available for only 25 cents. Reservations 101 - If you have never run reservations before, or would like it to run more smoothly, this is the class for you!  How to prepare and organize will be the focus.   (Magistra Octavia Columella, 2:00pm, Class: 2E)

Roman Garb - An introduction and demonstration of women's Roman clothing through the Republic and Empire. The influence of Roman styles on later eras of fashion will also be displayed.  (Mistress Muirenn ingen ui Ceilleachair, 2:00pm, Class: 2B)

Siege Weaponry: Medieval Weapons of Mass Destruction -   A discussion of the military history of  siege engines and the current use of siege weapons in SCA combat.   (Lord Edwardus the Wise, 1:00pm, Class: 2E)

Tarboosh Making - Will begin a basic hat to be covered. It can be used in a variety of periods where a pill-box type hat is worn. There will be a packet containing instructions, a needle, hat top and side and pattern pieces. (limit of 8 people)  (Baroness Barb-Hah-Rah, 11:00am, Class: 1B)

T-Tunics - Learn the basic one-piece, two-seam style, and get directions for a more fitted type. These directions are adaptable to any body shape or size, from children to adults.  (Honorable Lady Gwenllyan verch Morgan, 10:00am, Class: 1B)
